Congratulations to the CSMS Orchestra who participated in the annual “La Fiesta Orquesta” from the CPS Orchestra Program on Friday, November 18. Mr. Gardner and Mr. Buck have been working with our orchestra students to ensure that they were prepared for the show, and they combined with the other district middle schools to deliver strong performances. Great work to everyone who participated!

Thank you to the CSMS PTO who provided pies to our staff on Thursday, November 17. Our PTO was able to coordinate the Golf Ball Drop, which raised over $2500 in profits for the group. A special thank you to the Conway Fire Department Station #5, who came out to provide support for our drop, and to our grade level top sellers: Maddox C. (Grade 5), Gavin P. (Grade 6), and Braeden W. (Grade 7), and Mrs. Kathryn Bates, who had the most sales from her homeroom group. Congratulations to Kayla Fluck for being the winner of the Golf Ball Drop!!! Also, a huge thank you to all who purchased golf balls! We appreciate your support!!

CSMS Families: Are you interested in helping volunteer at some of our school events? The CSMS administration in coordination with the CSMS PTO has established a process for securing volunteer support. Anyone who would like to volunteer at school events will be required to complete this initial interest form (https://forms.gle/MP4MaZsyLJjL95qA8). The CSMS admin will screen the initial interest forms to determine whether the volunteers are parents/guardians of active CSMS students OR if they are other family members that have approval by the parents and guardians of associated students. All volunteers must be 18 years old and associated with a current student in the school. Once the initial interest form is approved, those patrons will then be given a state background check form and be required to complete that form and return it with $10 in cash or check made out to the PTO so that a background screening can be completed. Once that form and payment is returned and the background check is approved, the patron will then be designated as an approved CSMS volunteer. District employees and active substitutes for Kelly Services are exempt from this process as the background check has already been completed.

The CSMS PTO Golf Ball Drop will be held on Friday, November 18 at 2:00pm. We will pull our students out onto the football field to witness this event, weather permitting. We will be collecting the last of sheets and money from students on Wednesday, November 16th so that the PTO can get the golf balls ready.

Congratulations to our VFW Patriot’s Pen Writing Competition in-house winners:
1st Place: Thea S. ($25 Cash Prize and Essay Presented at Veterans Day Assembly)
    2nd Place: Belle G. ($15 Cash Prize)
    3rd Place: Aiden J. ($10 Cash Prize)
The Boys Basketball Team and the Girls Basketball Team looked great at the Basketball Madness this past week. We are gearing up for a great season of games. Good luck to both our teams as they start their season right after Thanksgiving! The first home game is against RDMS @ CSMS on Thursday, Dec 1.

Congratulations to Mrs. Starla Hunter for being recognized as the CSMS Teacher of the Month for October. Mrs. Hunter does so much to support our students. Aside from teaching, she leads the CSMS Student Council, serves on the KudoCATS Committee, and assists with the CSMS Yearbook. Mrs. Hunter works seemingly non-stop to help make our student-based activities run smoothly. Thank you for going above and beyond for our students and staff, Mrs. Hunter!

The Veterans Day Assembly on Friday showcased our respect for our nation’s veterans. We had over 60 veterans and their families present as our special guests. We also had over 100 parents in attendance. Overall, we had nearly 1000 people in the gym to pay honor and respect to veterans.
